Filipino-Chinese bizman, grandson abducted

GUNMEN believed to be members of kidnap-for-ransom-group (KFRG) have seized a Filipino-Chinese businessman and his grandson in a remote village in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, a military official disclosed Thursday.

Major Filemon Tan, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) information officer, disclosed the incident took place around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the village of Maruing, Lapuyan, Zamboanga del Sur.

Tan identified the victims as Antonio Tan, 70, a Filipino-Chinese businessman, and his grandson, Rayray, 20, both residents of Maruing, Lapuyan town.

Investigation showed that eight gunmen seized and dragged the victims at gunpoint into two waiting motor boats, which sped towards the direction of Malangas, Zamboanga Sibugay province.

He said troops from the Army’s 53rd Infantry Battalion and 6th Special Forces Battalion are tracking down the whereabouts of the victims. (Sunnex)
