THE much-awaited Ladies Open Beach Volleyball Tournament welcomes Easter Sunday today at Mar Villa Beach Resort in Opol, Misamis Oriental.
“Easter Sunday is one of the most festive events among Christians worldwide. It commemorates Jesus Christ’s resurrection from death...Let's celebrate,” said event organizer Alex Adeva of the Northern Mindanao Volleyball Association.
Adeva said the day-long competition, staking P5,000, P3,000, P2,000 and P1,000 for the top-4 team winners, has attracted commercial teams especially the ones that participated in the just-held Malaybalay Invitational League in Bukidnon.
“From two days gi-one day na lang namo kay medyo adunay aberya. Nigamay sab ang premyo pero amo gihapon gi-go na cancel man gud ang Kabaybayonan Festival sa Opol na didto kuhaon ang budget,” Adeva explained.
Confirmed participants include Dipolog City, Davao Optima, University of Mindanao-Davao, IMCC-Iligan, Jepoy Surplus 1, Jepoy Surplus 2, Jepoy Surplus 3, Jepoy Surplus 4, JEJ-1 Pingos, JEJ-2 Doris, JEJ-3 Fricks, IIT-Iligan, Iligan City NHS, Corpus Christi School and Friends, Knights Angels and Dabarkadas.
Adeva said the beach volley they organized late last year at a resort in brgy. Bayabas, Cagayan de Oro had inspired them to initiate the summer competition.
