TWO former members of 4th Infantry Division of the Philippine Army were arrested during a drug bust operation at Zone 3 Barangay Patag, Cagayan de Oro City at 10:30 p.m., Tuesday.
Police Chief Inspector Joepet Paglinawan, Police Station 4 chief, identified the suspects as Corporal Marvin Mondilla and Corporal Michael Cinco and a certain Rio Lee Mae Flores.
Paglinawan said his office received complaints two weeks ago about the suspects’ alleged illegal drugs involvement. Immediately, Paglinawan’s team surveyed the area and found out the three have been involved in selling illegal drugs.
“Naay complaint nga naay mga unusual nga sige gawas sulod sa maong balay, ang uban in uniform service, mao nag-conduct ta’g operation,” Paglinawan said.
The initial investigation showed that Mondilla was discharged from service and Cinco had no longer reported for duty as he was on absence without leave (Awol).
Paglinawan added that Flores is Mondilla’s girlfriend and allegedly served as the “runner.”
“Wala na sila nagresist sa operation kay ato naman silang na-corner,” Paglinawan said.
Authorities recovered two transparent sachets of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," P200 marked money and other drug paraphernalia and a magnum .22 caliber pistol with five live ammunitions.
Seized items were brought to the PNP crime laboratory for examination while the arrested suspects are temporarily detained at Maharlika Detention Center in Barangay Carmen.
Paglinawan said the suspects will face charges on violation of Section 5 of the Dangerous Drugs Act, illegal possession of firearms and the Comelec gun ban.
