Poe maintains lead in Pulse Asia survey

MANILA (Updated) -- Presidential aspirant Senator Grace Poe remained the top pick among all the presidential candidates, according to the latest pre-election survey conducted by pollster Pulse Asia.

The March 15 to 20 showed Poe got the nod of 28 percent of 4,000 respondents, who are registered voters with biometrics.

Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, who was statistically tied with Poe in the March 8 to 13 survey, came in second with 24 percent and was closely followed by Vice President Jejomar Binay, with 23 percent.

Administration bet Manuel Roxas got 19 percent while Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago was a far cry from her rivals, obtaining only two percent.

Four percent of the respondents were undecided who to vote for.

Akbayan Party-list Representative Barry Gutierrez, spokesperson of the administration Koalisyon ng Daang Matuwid, said the Liberal Party is not worried about the survey results of Roxas, as the figures remain "close".

He noted that many voters remained undecided as of the moment.

"Isa lang ang malinaw sa huling survey… patuloy pa ring nag-iisip ang ating mga kababayan at dikit pa rin ang laban," said Gutierrez.

Gutierrez said that with 39 days remaining before election day, the ruling party is optimistic that administration bet would be able to pull away from his other rivals especially that "more and more people listen to Roxas’ message of continued prosperity."

Poe took the top spot in Manila (31 percent) and Balanced Luzon (35 percent). On the other hand, Roxas led in Visayas with 37 percent while Duterte remained the top choice in Mindanao with 43 percent.

Duterte was the top choice in Class ABC (32 percent), while Poe took the lead in Classes D (27 percent) and E (30 percent).

The survey, commissioned by ABS-CBN, had an error margin of ±1.5 percent. (With John Carlo Cahinhinan/Sunnex)
