Guimaras kicks off 23rd Manggahan Festival

THE Province of Guimaras launched on Friday, April 1, its 23rd Manggahan Festival.

Provincial tourism officer Angeles Gabinete said the celebration covers the 3rd Manggahan sa Kabanwahan, which kicked off with a grand caravan on Friday.

The event will be participated by the municipalities of San Lorenzo (April 2-3), Sibunag (April 9-10), Jordan (April 16-17), Nueva Valencia (April 23-24), and Buenavista (April 28-May 1).


One of the highlights of the festival is the crowning of the Mutya ng Guimaras 2016 on May 20, which will come from 10 ladies namely Joyce Gayorgor of Buenavista, Ruth Emily Valenzuela of Sibunag, Sheryl Faith Perania of Nueva Valencia, Shara Vim Vilchez of Sibunag, Joanne Porras of Jordan, Rowena Gandeza of Nueva Valencia, Mary Welsen Quezon of San Lorenzo, Dana Mae Diana of Buenavista, and Jell Roses Duga of San Lorenzo.


Guimaras is known for producing the most luscious and the sweetest mangoes (mangga in local term), thus they have an annual celebration termed as Manggahan Festival.

The festival will end in May 22. (LCP)
