Gunmen burn 5 heavy equipment in Sindangan town

A GROUP of unidentified gunmen torched three backhoes and two bulldozers in Zamboanga del Norte on Thursday, the police reported.

The Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula said the incident took place in the village of Titik, Sindangan town around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.

The police said the burnt heavy equipment were owned by ESR construction firm, which is undertaking a road construction project in the said barangay.

Investigation showed that the group of gunmen doused gasoline and torched the heavy equipment parked at the side of the road.

After they set the heavy equipment ablaze, the gunmen also shot a road roller. Policemen and soldiers who rushed to the scene have recovered three empty shells of M14 rifle.

Chief Superintendent Miguel Antonio Jr., Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula director, has ordered the police in Sindangan to conduct a thorough investigation on the attack. (Bong Garcia)
