MEMBERS of the Davao City Chamber of Commerce and Industry Inc. (DCCCII) now total 346 as five new members were inducted Thursday during the chamber’s 3rd General Membership Meeting at Seda Abreeza Hotel, Bajada, Davao City.
The continuous growth of the chamber’s membership, according to DCCCII, is a reflection of a robust business community in the city.
The five new members inducted are the Mapecon Philippines, Inc., a pest-control company, BHL Express Philippines, a global logistics company, Goldshine Pharmaceuticals, Inc., SM Supermalls, and the Open Access BPO firm. For this month’s meeting, the chamber had the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR)-Davao Susan D. Tusoy, OIC-Chief, Document Processing Division to shed light on the taxation issue and discuss the region’s tax collection performance.
“We are very much positive that our target of achieving the tax collection at P20 Billion by the end the year 2016,” she said adding that even if the 2015 target was not met still the tax collection performance of the Davao Region for the past three years has posted an upward trend.
The collection performance of the regional office of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in 2015 increased by 15.4 percent to P14.338 billion as against 2014's P12.426 billion tax collections.
She also urged the taxpayers to file their income tax returns before the deadline set on April 15.
Meanwhile, the president of DCCCII, Bonifacio T. Tan in his monthly inside track report said that a united business community will translate to a better climate for Davao City's business industry.
He laid down all the of the activities being led and/or assisted by the chamber, some of these are the BIMP-Eaga International Halal Congress, City Transport and Traffic Management Board, Quarterly Meeting of RDC-Davao, awarding of the Davao Regional Excellence Award for 2015and the preparation of its flagship event the Davao Trade industry, among others.
