3 fishermen, minor rescued after boat capsize in Banago

THREE fishermen, and a minor were rescued by the Philippine Coast Guard-Bacolod after their boat capsized off Barangay Banago waters in Bacolod City Thursday evening.

Rescued were Michael Hugo, 33, and his 11-year-old daughter; Richard Datu-on, 26; and Mark Lorenzo, 26, all residents of Barangay 3, Bacolod.

Lieutenant Commander Ramil Palabrica, chief of PCG-Bacolod, said Friday the victims were fishing near Bredco Port at about 10:15 p.m.

They were about to throw their fishing net when the boat’s outrigger broke, he said.

The fishermen swam and used their flashlights to get the attention of other fishermen in the area.

They were given a first aid by personnel of Bacolod emergency rescue team. (MAP)
