THEY meant to arrest a male alleged drug pusher, but the police ended up arresting the man’s wife and another woman.
Operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) 7 caught two women with around P118,000 worth of suspected shabu in a buy-bust in Barangay Maslog, Danao City last Tuesday afternoon.
Backed by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) 7, the detectives positioned themselves in the area, awaiting a signal from the decoy in a transaction with suspect Felimon Nuñez, also known as “Momong,” who immediately sensed the presence of the operatives, and fled.
Police tried to chase Nuñez through a narrow path, and were blocked by some residents. The chase led to the drug lair where his wife, May Nuñez, and another woman Janice Langgamon, were captured.
May, who also tried escaping, was caught in possession of two sachets of suspected shabu. Langgaman was caught inside the drug den.
Both of them are residents of Barangay Maslog, Danao City, Cebu.
Felimon Nuñez, the subject of the buy-bust operation, was able to elude arrest, leaving his wife in the hands of the police, Supt. Marlon Tayaba of CIDG 7 said in a phone interview.
Seized from their possession were several illegal drug paraphernalia and 17 sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of five grams, five packs of suspected shabu weighing five grams, and cash amounting to P1,900 in different denominations believed to be the proceeds of their illegal business.
The Dangerous Drug Board values each gram of shabu at P11,800.
Nuñez and Langgaman were confined at the CIDG 7 holding cell.
The confiscated evidences were submitted to the Philippine National Police (PNP) Crime Laboratory 7 for analysis.
Complaints for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against the suspects. Merlisa Suan Betito, CNU MassCom Intern
