TWO persons were arrested in separate drug bust operations in northern Negros Thursday.
The first suspect, Elpidia Quiatchon, 49, of Barangay Zone 4 in Cadiz City, was collared at Grandville Subdivision in Barangay Daga at around 5:35 p.m. after she handed a suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police poseur-buyer.
The operation was conducted by joint operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Island Region and Cadiz City Police Station.
Police seized from Quiatchon three sachets of suspected shabu worth P36,000, drug paraphernalia, a pouch, and the P2,000 marked money.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 will be filed against Quiatchon, a former village official.
Superintendent Edel Jose Manzano, city police chief, said Quiatchon’s husband was previously arrested for illegal drugs, and is detained at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) in the city.
In Victorias City, a man was arrested at Bangga Daan in Barangay 1 for possession of illegal drugs.
Police identified the suspect as James Villas, 24, of Purok 8, Daan Banwa, Barangay 9 of the said city.
Found in his possession were a small sachet of suspected shabu, the P200 marked money, and drug paraphernalia.
Superintendent Santiago Rapiz, city police chief, said drug charges were already filed against Villas Friday.
