Police nets 3 people in Dipolog drug bust

THREE suspected drug pushers were arrested while another eluded arrest in a drug bust operation in the province of Zamboanga del Norte, the police reported Saturday.

Superintendent Rogelio Alabata, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula spokesman, said the anti-drug operation was carried out around 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the village of Sta. Felomina, Dipolog City.

Alabata identified the arrested suspects as Bryan Saile, 28; Kevin Abarquez, 37; Sharie Tayrus, 34.

Alabata said that Tayrus’ alleged live-in-partner, Jude Thadeu Mercado, managed to escape.

He said Mercado pulled a grenade from his pocket and held hostage Tayrus that prevented the arresting personnel to corner him. Mercado managed to commandeer a motorcycle and escaped leaving behind his live-in partner.

The arrested suspects are now detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against them. (Bong Garcia)
