THE Provincial Government-run Mambukal Resort, one of the top tourist destinations in Negros Occidental, earned a total of P15.599 million during the first quarter of the year, 36.2 percent higher compared to the earnings for the same period last year.
In 2015, income generated by Mambukal reached P11.448 million.
A total of 108,160 went to Mambukal in the first quarter this year while 73,257 tourists came in 2015, or a higher by 47.6 percent in 2016.
The peak of tourist arrivals was in March especially during the Holy Week.
The earnings of Mambukal came from the bath house, boating, butterfly house, family cottages, catering services, convention hall, LGU cottages, villas, dipping pool, entrance, tourist lodge, food court, picnic huts, slide for life, swimming pool, ofuro, canopy walk, wall climbing, and space rentals.
