Bizman shot dead after May-Pac match

RIGHT after the match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, a taxi operator in Cagayan de Oro City was shot dead as he approached his vehicle parked at Cogon area on Sunday at about 1:30 in the afternoon.

Initial investigation by Cogon Police Station (PS 2) headed by PS/Insp. Alfredo Ortiz showed that the victim was identified as Ferdinand M. Corrales, a resident of Zone 2 in Barangay Kauswagan and the owner of Egie Pie Taxi. The police said the identity of the victim was confirmed by some of the Egie Pie taxi drivers.

Witnesses said that Corrales drove a white Ford Ranger pickup whose plate was marked “for registration.” He stopped by at an establishment and bought some car parts.

As he approached his vehicle, one of the suspects already took the driver seat. The other suspect, who was at his back, shot him.

And as he fell flat on the pavement, the two suspects fled using his vehicle.

His brother, Roy, told the police that Corrales just got his vehicle two weeks ago. He also said he couldn’t think of any motive behind Corrales’s killing. But he said Corrales was strict when it comes to paying collecting the taxi rental fees.

The police believed the motive could be carjacking.

Police investigation is ongoing.
