Over P3-M aid to Davao City's March fire victims

THE Davao City Social Services and Development Office (CSSDO) has distributed more than P3 million financial assistance to families affected by series of fire incidents last month, an official said.

CSSDO head Maria Luisa T. Bermudo, in an interview on Friday, said they distributed a total amount of P3,715,724 financial assistance to fire victims.

She said a total amount of P816,000 were given to the victims of the March 8 fire incident at Puroks 13 and 21 of Barangay 76-A; P1,219,000 were given to 146 affected families at St. John in Bucana last March 10; and P1,032,000 were also distributed to 151 affected families in Barangay 31-B; and P114,000 given to families affected by a fire that hit Barangay 21-C last March 21.

"We had given financial assistance to 569 families and 34 individuals. When you say individuals these are boarders who usually stay at the Poblacion area," Bermudo said in the vernacular, adding that these include victims of fire incidents that affect small number of houses.

She added that non-food items such as beddings and kitchen utensils and hygiene kits amounting to P1,024,828 and food packs worth P362,000 were also given.

CSSDO had given a total amount of P5,103,076 to fire victims including financial assistance, food packs, and non-food items as of Friday last week.
