‘Negros needs more fish landing areas’

A PARTY-LIST group said that Negros Occidental and Bacolod City need more fish landing sites and fish processing plants.

All Fish Party-list nominees Peter Paul Santos and lawyer Jacquelone Yao said in a press conference in Bacolod on Saturday, April 16, that they aim to be the voice of the fisheries sector, and be the frontline in the protection of the country’s coastal resources and marine biodiversity.

The party was accredited by the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on December 22, 2015 as a regional political party. Established in 1997, it is the political arm of the Philippine Fishing Federations Inc., which is the umbrella organization of duly organized fishery and fishing federations or associations operating within the internal and external waters of the Philippines.

Their advocacy include sustainable fishing through protection and preservation of coastal resources and marine biodiversity and food security; strengthening institutional cooperation towards sustainability and support for the creation of a Department of Fishery with the mission of improving fisheries productivity within ecological limits and empower stakeholders towards food security.
