Dayanghirang assures compliance with coastal project requirements

DAVAO City Councilor Danilo Dayanghirang said that they will see to it the that Traffic Impact Assessment, the housing resettlement program, and the environmental compliance certificate for the Davao City Coastline Development Project will be accomplished by the City Planning and Development Office (CPDO) before the discussions for the approval of the project will be brought to the Philippine Reclamation Agency (PRA).

Dayanghirang said on Monday that once the Joint Venture Agreement between the city mayor and the Mega Harbour Port Development Corporation will be signed this month, it will be sent to PRA-Central Office for further assessment.

He added that after approval this will then pass through the National Economic and Development Authority.

“Mag-usap pa ulit doon, then ibabalik sa city pag approved na,” Dayanghirang said.

He said that he expects the approval of the P39-billion reclamation project to take a year. But he is confident that the project will improve the economic and industrial landscape not just the areas reclaimed but also the whole city.

The reclamation project became controversial topic before the city council, as thousands of families along coastal areas will be affected.

Dayanghirang said a proposal of tenement type of housing was presented during their discussion in the council. He said that relocation of residents to another area was discouraged by Davao city Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
