P250,000 worth of drugs seized in Kabankalan

FIFTY grams of illegal drugs with a street value of P250,000 were seized by operatives from two suspects in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental on Sunday, April 17.

Police identified the suspects as Francis Glenn Soliman, 27, and, Edmon Montalvo, 22, both of Sitio San Juan, Barangay Camugao.

According to records from the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), Soliman and Montalvo were on board a motorcycle on JY Perez Highway, Barangay Talubangi, when police stopped them at around 2:30 a.m.

Police seized from Soliman six sachets of suspected shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), 29 empty plastic sachets, drug paraphernalia, a pouch, cash amounting to P27,936, a cellular phone, a bag, and a .45-caliber Armscor pistol with 10 rounds in it.

Police recovered from Montalvo a pouch containing four sachets of suspected shabu, drug paraphernalia, two knives, a wallet containing identification cards and receipts, a cellular phone, P3,188 cash, a 9mm pistol, two pistol magazines and a total of 25 live 9mm rounds.

Both suspects face charges for illegal drug possession and for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Law). ( Glazyl Y. Masculino)
