AROUND 5,000 participants are expected to join the fun run organized by a medical group in Davao City in support to the presidential bid of Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.
With the theme: "One Run One Nation One Dream," Dr. Ma Cristina Fuentes from the Brokenshire Memorial Hospital said the "Run With Duterte, Takbo Para Sa Pagbabago" will start at Rizal Park on San Pedro Street on May 1.
Dr. Yadnee Estrera from the Davao Doctors Hospital said the assembly time for the three-kilometer (3k) and 5k run is at 5 a.m. and the run starts at exactly 6 a.m. She added that the group will also hold a Zumba Dance Party at the park after the run.
Fuentes and Estrera are among the convenors of the "Doctors si Duterte lang ang Sandigan/Sinaligan or Duterte Got Doctors' Support (DDS)", a group that has been actively supporting Duterte in his presidential bid.
Estrera said the registration fee for 3k and 5k run is P150 with race bib and baller. She added that though there will be no singlet, they encouraged the participants to wear their best Duterte shirts.
Fuentes said the proceeds will be used for the food assistance intended for the volunteers on May 9, Election Day, which among of the volunteers are doctors and health professionals.
"We hope to see you there. This is for Mayor Duterte being our president. We run for one mayor in his one last push for change," Estrera said, adding that the group believes only Duterte is the "cure for the sick country like Philippines."
