Notorious robber falls

A KNOWN robbery suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by personnel of Police Station 2 at B.S. Aquino Drive in front of Redemptorist Church, Barangay 5, Bacolod City on Tuesday evening, April 19.

Edito Cadorna, 29, a tricycle driver, and resident of Purok Sawmill, Barangay Bata, fell to authorities while his three unidentified companions evaded arrest.

Cadorna and his companions were mobbed by bystanders after they robbed Jessa Gulmatico and Ge-Ann Rosario, both residents of Barangay 5.

Senior Inspector Edison Garcia, chief of Police Station 2, said the victims were walking in front of the church at about 9:10 p.m. when the suspects, riding a tricycle, waylaid them and declared a hold-up.

The suspects pointed a gun at the victims and took their bags containing identification cards and a total of P450 cash.

Police recovered from Cadorna’s possession an improvised firearm, or pin gun. His tricycle was also impounded.

Earlier, Cadorna and his companions also robbed Archie David, 19, of Barangay Granada, and Joy Arevalo, 18, of Barangay Singcang-Airport, in Barangay 9.

A robbery complaint was filed Wednesday, April 20, by police before the City Prosecutor’s Office against the suspect, who is detained at station.

Garcia said Cardona’s group had been involved in several robbery hold-up incidents within his area of jurisdiction.

Bus conductor robbed

A conductor of a Ceres Liner bus was robbed by four unidentified armed men at Hacienda Agustina in Barangay Sag-ang, La Castellana on Tuesday.

Police identified the victim as Nehru Matola, 21, of Barangay Binicuil, Kabankalan City.

Police records showed that the armed men wearing white shirts and green caps boarded the bus and declared a hold-up at around 6:20 p.m., and carted away Matola’s collection amounting to P1,350.

They robbers, who were carrying two .38-caliber revolvers, bladed weapons, and a hand grenade, then fled.

Senior Inspector Jerry Nacion, town police chief, said they are still conducting a follow-up operation to identify and arrest the robbers. (MAP, GYM)
