Palace condemns attack on Comelec website

MALACANANG condemned Friday the cyber-attack on the website of the Commission on Elections (Comelec).

Communications Secretary Herminio Coloma Jr. admitted that the Palace shares the public's concern on the "ill-effects" of the incident.

"Concerned government agencies, including the DOST (Department of Science and Technology)-Information and Communications Technology Office (ICTO), are closely coordinating with the Comelec, to further strengthen its security protocols," he said.

"Although verifications that have been made thus far have shown that the integrity of the automated election system has not been affected by the latest cyber-attack, we share the public's concern on the ill-effects of this act," he added.

Coloma said the government is determined to ensure that similar acts will not be repeated in the future.

He also vowed that authorities would go after the perpetrators.
