THE five presidential candidates during the last and final debate on Sunday answered different issues asked by their fellow candidates.
Administration candidate Manuel Roxas II asked Vice President Jejomar Binay to explain the alleged overpricing of hospital beds at the Ospital ng Makati and the overpriced construction of an office and parking building in Makati City when Binay was city mayor.
But Binay evaded the question and instead focused on his platform.
"Ilang beses ko na sinagot yung mga pinagsasabi mo, hindi ko na sasayangin yung oras ko, magsasalita na lang ako sa kung ano dahilan ng pagpunta natin dito kundi ang plataporma," Binay said.
Roxas insisted, asked again the question, and explained to Binay that the public's trust is important.
"Yung tiwala ng sinasabi mo, pagkapanalo ko di nawala ang tiwala ng mga kababayan. Hndi ka naman hukuman. Mananalo ko sa dadatating na halalan," Binay said.
During the face-off of Senator Grace Poe and Davao mayor Rodrigo Duterte, Poe questioned the mayor how women will be treated under the Duterte administration.
The mayor said that Davao City is the first city to have a Women's code.
Duterte also added that in beauty contests in Davao the mayor does not allow skimpy swimsuit, only shorts and beach wear.
"Walang nakabikini. Bawal ang pulis manghuli. Ang mga babae dun hindi natatakot kung saan sila mamasyal sa Davao City," he said.
Duterte said that if he will win in the elections he will appoint women in tourism or finance department.
During his faceoff with Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago, Duterte did not question her platform but instead asked how the senator was feeling.
"I am back to the normal good health because i am using a secret pill. It is a miracle worker that I am normal now," Defensor said.
Santiago slammed the candidates who use her health for black propaganda.
"I have been the subject of propaganda concerning my health. There is a new cancer anti drug I am using. The only drawback is that it is too expensive. I already returned to normal," said Santiago.
On Santiago versus Roxas, the senator asked the former Cabinet secretary to explain why he deserves citing that a candidate for president requires three excellence -- academic excellence, professional excellence and moral excellence.
"I did graduate from Wharton (School of University of Pennsylvania), one of the best business schools in US. We have worked together at the Senate, you will be the best judge as to my capability. And lastly, moral integrity, in 23 year in politics, not once have I been connected to any kind of anomaly," Roxas said.
On Binay versus Poe, the Vice President once again criticized Poe for being a US citizen.
She explained that during that time, she did that for her family.
"Yung mga pagkakataon na yun inisip ko rin sa totoo, kasama ko ang aking pamilya, hindi yun dahil sa kawalan ng pagmamahal sa bayan. Iniisip ko lang hndi ako mawawalay sa kanila. Marami namang ganun pero hndi nabawasan ang pagmamahal ko sa bayan," Poe said. (Sunnex)
