On the spotlight

BROWN Academy of Music (BAM) is a music school that opened its doors to the public on the month of January. This performance-based school is located on the second floor of Northgate Centre, Gov. M. Cuenco Ave., Banilad, Cebu City. It provides a pathway to further enhance one’s talents through workshops.

With a fully-developed curriculum paired with high quality instruments for its students, BAM offers lessons that are available for six-month old infants and above focusing on musical instruments, voice lessons as well as children’s music. Its pupils are guided by the expertise of its qualified instructors including the school’s directors, couple Adam and Anna Fegi-Brown.

Last April 9, BAM held its first show called Turn Up the Music at The Terraces, Ayala Center Cebu featuring its students, who after months of preparation since taking lessons on January, showcased what they’ve learned. Cebu songwriter Jude Gitamondoc, the writer of plays Gugmang Giatay, Siddhartha and the song HAHAHAHasula, was a guest on that night.

A total of 36 students, both voice and instruments, were involved in the show with ages ranging from six years old and above, who serenaded the audience with a mix of upbeat tunes and melodic tracks from different genres with some musical performances paired with dance moves. Eight teachers also performed during the concert as well as Anna Fegi-Brown who started the show together with female voice students and closed the show with all of the students.
