DA hosts training seminar for women

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Department of Agriculture (DA), in cooperation with Rural Improvement Club, conducted a "Training Seminar on Vermicast Production, Processing Vermi Tea and Fish Processing and Production" the other day at Agri- Pinoy Trading Center, Caalibangbanganan, Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija.

The DA has been proactive in supporting different agricultural organizations such as RIC through conducting trainings and seminars.

Organized by RIC, the event aims to provide trainings for women farmers that would be beneficial for their livelihood projects. The group targets more seminars and training dedicated for rural women.

“We are expecting that after the training seminar the women will be more involved in the field of agriculture and we encourage rural women to participate in this type of activities,” Mercedita Manalastas said.

Meanwhile, Leah Cruz, Chairman of Vegetable Importer/Exporter and Vendors Association (VIEVA) said, “There is nothing impossible, women can also engage and excel in farming, and we support women, but not only women but every farmers in the Philippines.”

The participants of the said event are representatives of different municipalities of Nueva Ecija that are also members of the RIC.
