Road closure for 450th Kaplag

SOME roads in Cebu City will be closed and traffic will be rerouted tomorrow to pave the way for the procession and street dancing activities as part of the 450th Kaplag celebration.

The Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) advised the riding public that the downtown areas to be affected by the road closure and rerouting are: right portion of Osmeña Boulevard, and the streets of D. Jakosalem, Magallanes and P. Burgos.

CCTO Operations Head Joy Tumulak said that the rerouting plan will take effect starting 3 p.m. until the activity is finished. But, Tumulak said that the CCTO personnel will already start to man the area as early as 1 p.m.

Tumulak appealed to the public to avoid going to the affected areas if they don’t have important errands to attend to. Tumulak assured that CCTO will immediately open the areas as soon as the street dancing is over.

Five contingents composed of at least four hundred dancers from Cebu City and other neighboring localities are expected to join the street dancing.

In a traffic advisory, CCTO said that jeepneys coming from Guadalupe and Banawa will have to take the road via B. Rodqiguez St. and V. Rama Ave.

Those from Pit-os and Talamban areas shall turn right to Colon and back to their usual route. Jeepneys from the city’s south shall turn right to Leon Kilat St. to Sanciangco St. then back to their original point.

Jeepneys coming from Mandaue City and Mabolo passing on M.J. Cuenco Ave. can make a U-turn back to MJ Cuenco Ave. then to their usual route.

CCTO will install traffic signs to guide the drivers and commuters. Lorraine Mitzi Ambrad, USJ-R Intern
