Aquino warns Filipinos from Duterte presidency

PRESIDENT Benigno Aquino III warned Thursday the Filipinos from the return of dictatorship under the presidency of Rodrigo Duterte.

"Ang tanong: Bibigyan niyo ba ng pagkakataong mamuno ang mga taong sisiga-siga o parang kada bukas ng bibig ay mayroong bagong inaaway?," Aquino said in a speech at the inauguration of the Freedom Memorial Museum at Ninoy Aquino Parks and Wildlife Center in Quezon City.

Aquino was apparently referring to Duterte who promised to address crimes within the three to six months of his administration if he wins in the elections.

The Davao City mayor has said that if these criminals would not stop, he would use the police and the military to "kill" them.

Aquino recalled that during the Martial Law years, late President Ferdinand Marcos used his power to abuse the people.

The President urged the Filipinos to support for the continuity of the "Daang Matuwid," which is contrary to dictatorship.

Aquino is backing the candidacies of former Local Government Secretary Manuel Roxas II for president and Camarines Sur Representative Leni Robredo for vice president. (SDR/Sunnex)
