Cebu City police, DBP ink deal for automated police clearance

THE Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) signed Friday, April 29, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) with the Development Bank of the Philippines and its sister company, Data Center Inc., to make police clearance available to the public online.

Anyone who would like to apply for a police clearance can go to cebucity.policeclearance.ph and fill out the application form provided online. The applicant will get a reference number for the payment, which can be done through a debit card or cash basis through the DBP bank.

Nilo S. Cruz, president of DBP and chief executive officer of DCI, said they still need to do some forms of advertising to promote the website and their service.

Cruz added that the website is secure from hackers, since "they are in bank basis."

It would also be affordable enough and convenient to the masses, he added.

But Cruz said that the public can still personally apply for a police clearance if they want to, adding that the requirements remain the same.

The MOA signing was held at the CCPO office Friday morning and was also attended by Police Senior Superintendent Benjamin Santos Jr. along with other police officers. (Antoneth Geotoro and Merry Meldred Bardinas, CNU interns/Sunnex)
