PROVINCIAL Intelligence Branch (PIB) operatives caught a 23-year-old man who was allegedly involved in one of the three robberies that struck Bogo City in a span of 35 days.
Jess Sentillas was caught in Barangay Poblacion, Consolacion yesterday morning, after a six-hour chase from Cebu City.
SPO1 Rey Solante of PIB said witnesses tagged Sentillas as one of the three men who took P100,000 from a store in Barangay Carbon last Sunday afternoon.
Last March 19, four men robbed Gaisano Superstore in Barangay Carbon and fled with P114,600 in bills and coins from a cash register.
Ten days later, three armed men stole P118,820 worth of assorted cell phones and P16,614 in cash from Junrex Cell Shop in Barangay San Vicente.
Cebu Provincial Police Office Director Clifford Gairanod said he had ordered a manhunt against the suspects.
Sentillas was identified through the closed-circuit television camera.
However, he told intelligence officers he was not involved in the robbery.
Investigation showed that a buy-bust was hatched against Sentillas a day before three men robbed Inday Store owned by Presentacion Dy Mendoza. However, he eluded arrest.
The PIB, which was tapped to help Bogo City Police Station, tracked the suspect down in Barangay Camputhaw, Cebu City, living with his relatives.
Solante said they went into the house around 5 a.m., but Sentillas noticed them. The suspect jumped out of the window and boarded a motorcycle-for-hire.
Police went after him. When he got to Banawa in Barangay Guadalupe, he boarded another motorcycle-for-hire.
Operatives finally caught the suspect in Consolacion, after the latter had a disagreement with the driver over the fare.
Solante said Sentillas has pending arrest warrants for his involvement in stealing motorcycles.
The suspect admitted he is a member of a syndicate headed by a Tagalog-speaking man.
“Gusto niyang mogawas sa sindikato, pero dili na siya kagawas daw kay patyon (He wants to leave, but he’ll be killed if he does),” Solante said.
