Cebu City Hall to distribute fees of job-order employees, barangay workers

THE Cebu City Government will distribute P17 million worth of honoraria to some of its job-order (JO) employees and several workers in the barangays tomorrow.

Some 2,000 garbage truck drivers and loaders, barangay tanods, lupon tagapamayapa, barangay environmental officers and some JOs will receive their two-month honoraria from the City, said Agapita Cesa, cash disbursement division head of the City Treasurer’s Office

“Right now, we have two cash advances. First is P13 million and second is P4 million that will be all used for the distribution of honoraria this Sunday,” Cesa said.

The distribution will be made during the first ever “Sugbonanza 2016: The City of Services” organized by the City Government.

One-stop shop

The event is a one-stop shop where the public can avail themselves of most of the services offered by City Hall.

People who don’t have time to transact at the City Hall during weekdays can do so tomorrow, which also happens to be Labor Day.

The Sugbonanza will be held at Plaza Independencia along with the distribution of honorarium, from 7 a. m. to 3 p. m.

All City Hall departments will offer their services to the public, even to those who are not from Cebu City, said Rey Cris Panugaling, chief of the Cebu City Medical Center (CCMC).

On offer tomorrow will be legal, health, engineering, human resource, trainings, agriculture and other social services.

The City Legal Office will assist those with legal concerns, while the Civil Registrar Office will cater to those who will apply for the registration and late registration of births, death and marriage certificates and consultations on civil registry concerns like correction of clerical error, change of first name, among others.

The CCMC and the City Health Department will conduct “Operation Tuli (circumcision),” and offer dental consultation, tooth extraction, oral prophylaxis and anti-pneumonia vaccination, while the Department of Veterinary Medicine and Fisheries will also spay and neuter dogs and cats, and provide anti-rabies vaccines and vitamins for livestock.

The City Planning and Development Office, Department of Engineering and Public Works and Office of the Building Official will hand out forms and list of requirements needed for those securing locational permits and other permits, such as occupancy, fencing and building.

Free food-tasting

The Department of Social Welfare and Services will distribute medical and burial assistance to some beneficiaries while conducting feeding.

The Department of Manpower Development and Placement will offer manicures, pedicures and haircuts.

The Division for the Welfare of the Urban Poor will cater to home lot allocations, let-there-be-light program, lot acquisition for socialized housing, socio-economic survey and updates for lot payments, among others, while the Cebu City Transportation Office will hold seminars on vehicle emissions, travel line and other traffic concerns.

Free food-tasting will also be available courtesy of the City Market Operations and City Agriculture Office.

“These are just few of the programs that they can avail themselves during the Sugbonanza. There is still more there that is why we are inviting the public to join us,” Panugaling said.
