BAGUIO Health Services Office has advised the public not to use e-cigarettes as an alternative for tobacco or cigarettes.
According to Baguio City Health Officer Dr. Donnabel Tubera, the public should refrain from using e-cigarettes as it has been proven by the World Health Organization that it can do no good to the body.
"The Electronic Nicotine Delivery System which is known as e-cigarette or vaping directly send nicotine in your brain in just ten seconds, which is no different from using tobacco cigarettes," Tubera explained.
"E-cigarettes are not safe as the vaping industry claims it to be, you are not just endangering yourself from the vape but also to those who are around us, purong nicotine ang iniintake natin if we use this e-cigarettes," Tubera added.
An e-cigarette is a tube containing nicotine and a heating mechanism inside which turns nicotine into vapor.
"Akala natin safe siya pero hindi po safe ang vaping, according to the WHO. We should prevent unproven health claims, wala pong proof ang mga vaping industries kung nakakatulong ba ito. Kaya wag na po sana tayong gumamit ng e-cigarettes hindi po ito nakakatulong sa atin," Tubera stated.
Tubera added some people believe vaping can help in removing their smoking habits.
"Hindi po totoo na natatanggal natin ang smoking habits natin through vaping or e-cigarettes, pinapalala lang po natin ang ating smoking habits, nag-iismoke ka parin sa vaping ang pinagkaiba lang is high tech yung tobacco but they still have the same effect to your health," Tubera said.
Tubera also advised the public to seek help at the health centers if they want to quit smoking.
