Korina: Mar’s ratings will continue to surge

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Journalist Korina Sanchez-Roxas yesterday said that she believes the pre-election survey ratings of her husband Liberal Party standard bearer Mar Roxas will continue to surge in the next few days before elections day on May 9.

Roxas now nears the number one spot in the latest Pulse Asia survey commissioned by the ABS-CBN Network after switching places with Senator Grace Poe.

The survey, with a sample size of 4,000 registered voter-respondents culled nationwide, was conducted on April 26 to 29, a week after the final presidential debate in Dagupan City. It had a +/-1.5 percent margin of error.

Pulse Asia noted that Roxas switched places with Senator Grace Poe, with the LP bet ahead at 22 percent versus the latter’s 21 percent.

“Secretary Mar is the only presidential candidate whose rating persistently goes up. His contenders’ have either static, fluctuating or continuously descending ratings,” Sanchez-Roxas said in a phone interview.

She noted the initial rating of Roxas at four percent which received criticisms from his fellow presidentiables.

“Nung nag-uumisa palang, ang sinasabi nila, four percent lang daw si Mar. Malayo daw at hindi makakahabol. Pero ang sabi namin, tao lang naman ang makakapagsabi niyan at tignan niyo naman ang rating ngayon ni Secretary Mar,” Sanchez-Roxas stressed.

According to her, Mar and his campaign team have been working hard in roaming the country to introduce the achievements of the “Daang Matuwid”, which he is bound to continue, as well as let his platform be known.

“We believe and trust that the Filipino people will still choose the transparent, incorruptible and decent kind of governance,” she added.

With just 11 percent away from Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte’s 33 percent, Sanchez-Roxas expressed her confidence that Roxas will dominate the presidential election on May 9.

“Filipinos are wise voters and they are capable of choosing the right leader who’ll bring more development to the country,” she said.

“This momentum will lead us to the top spot and Secretary Mar will be the top choice of the Filipino people on May 9,” Sanchez-Roxas stressed.

Meanwhile, Vice-President Jejomar Binay slid to fourth place with 17 percent, while Senator Miriam Santiago stayed at the rear with a two percent preference rating in the same survey.

The survey also showed that Roxas is top choice at 38 percent in the 11,316,789 vote-rich Visayas region with a Class E voting bloc of 24 percent.
