A VOTE counting machine (VCM) in Dumanjug, serving 1,500 voters in three clustered precincts in barangay Lawaan, failed to function and transmit during its final testing and sealing (FTS), prompting election officer Renante Angcos to seek Capitol’s help.
This was the second VCM used by the clustered precinct, composed of three polling precincts with 500 voters each, so Board of Election Inspectors (BEI) chairman Carlito Ibis requested for a replacement.
When they learned that the second VCM did not a have memory (SD) card back-up, they pulled the memory card of the first VCM and used it in the second VCM.
But the screen of VCM showed that its transmission failed.
During the FTS last May 6, two VCMs could not be used, said Angcos.
The VCM in Barangay Kanyuko has no green seal, while one in Barangay Lawaan did not function.
No arrests
Meanwhile, Dumanjug police chief Insp. Rogelio Amoroso said they have not arrested any official for election-related incidents this week.
PO1 Vilma Caballero said they arrested last Saturday night in Badian Carlos Bartolo Gamboa, 45, for attempted rape and rape.
Dumanjug is one of the eight owns and cities in the election watchlist areas (Ewas) of the police.
With this, more policemen are added to Anoroso’s 25-strong police force. He received 72 augmentation personnel from the Police Regional Office, 20 from the Provincial Public Safety College and Special Weapons and Tactics.
His station has received complaints from candidates, which they have yet to verify.
