Morris, Bilog takes early lead

INCUMBENT City Mayor Mauricio Domogan and Vice Mayor Edison Bilog lead in partial unofficial votes transmitted in different barangays of Baguio City as of Monday night, May 9.

With 77 percent votes canvassed based on the unofficial results, Domogan leads the mayoral race at 35,020 votes as of 8:30 p.m. Monday, followed by his closest rival, former Regional Trial Court Judge Del Claravall, with 31,034 while lawyer Jose Molintas is in third with 17,957, and Guillermo Hernandez at number four with 490 votes.

For vice mayor, Bilog has 35,065 votes, followed by Isabelo Cosalan with 20,907, followed by Betty Lourdes Tabanda with 16,571. Fred Bagbagen and Jeffrey Pinic are at number four and five respectively with 9,041 and 242 votes.

In the congressional race, businessman Mark Go has 34,608 votes and leads incumbent representative Nicasio Aliping who has 30,846, while former solon Bernardo Vergara is at third with 15,573. Rudy Aspilan and Edgardo Duque has 2,240 and 464 votes a piece.

For seats in the City Council, Edgar Avila is on top with 42,009 followed by Leandro Yangot (41,952), Roberto Ortega (41,931), Joel Alangsab (40,449), Faustino Olowan(39,913), Elmer Datuin (37,890), Mylen Yaranon (37,402), and Elaine Sembrano(36,056).

Wrapping up the top 12 are Peter Fianza (34,205), Lilia Fariñas (31,951) Arthur Allad-iw (31,282) and Benny Bomogao (28, 167).

In Benguet, Cresencio Pacalso leads in the gubernatorial race with 42,118 followed by Nelson Dangwa with 29,384, while Melchor Diclas is at third with 18,550.

Incumbent representative Ronald Cosalan continues to pad his lead in the congressional race garnering 55,362 while Gov. Nestor Fongwan has 50,143 votes.

Florence Tingbaoen is lording the vice-gubernatorial race with 36,994, while at close second is Concepcion Balao having 35,004, and at third is Faustino Aquisan with 23,281.

Meanwhile in Benguet’s capital town of La Trinidad, 80 percent of the votes have been transmitted with 57 of 66 clustered precincts having 39,607 registered voters.

Actual voter turn-out was 28,303.

Incumbent Vice Mayor Romeo Salda has taken the lead with 14,562 followed by former mayor Greg Abalos with 7,005 while trailing behind is incumbent mayor Edna Tabanda with 5,751.

For vice mayor, a race is seen between incumbent aldermen Joey Marrero with 13,045 and John Botiwey with 12,609.

Leading the pack for the City Council is incumbent Councilor Roderick Awingan with 12,938 followed by Bobot Fongwan (10,978), Henry Kipas (10483), Estrella Adeban (10,097), Guiller Galwan (9,545), Manuel Dulnuan (6,644), Juan Mendoza (6,619), and Jimmy Laking (6,063).

The Valley is the first to transmit results out of the 13 municipalities in the Province. Counting in the Provincial Capitol has ceased as of 7 p.m., Monday and will resume Tuesday morning, May 10. (With a report from Roderick Osis)
