Magalang mayor-elect asks support of constituents

MAGALANG -- A winning mayoral candidate here asked this agricultural town's constituents to support her administration.

Councilor Malou Lacson, who defeated incumbent Mayor Romulo Pecson in the recently concluded polls, said Magalang is facing huge challenges and the local government needs the people's cooperation.

In her Facebook post, Lacson said, "maragul pu ing harapan tamung pagsubuk keng daratang a panaun na siguradu kung alampasan tamung miyabe-abe. Samantalan ku ne pu ing oportunidad a ini bang agkatan da ko ngan na maging parti na ning gobiernung paratang para keng dangalan ning balen tamung kaluguran." (We are facing huge challenges ahead but I am certain we could hurdle these if we are together. I ask you all to join hands for our beloved town)

She also thanked the people of Magalang for their support, love and vote, which gave her a new mandate as local chief executive.

Lacson vowed to work on programs on health, peace and order, infrastructure, environmental protection, cleanliness, business development, arts and culture, education, protection of women and their children, senior citizens, tourism, and others.

Lacson's brother-in-law, Vice Mayor Norman Lacson, meanwhile defeated former mayor Lyndon Cunanan in the vice mayoralty race.
