Guv grateful for Kapampangan votes

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO – Governor Lilia Pineda expressed her gratitude to every Kapampangan who cast their votes for her and Vice Governor Dennis Pineda as the provincial canvassing of votes concluded at the Benigno Aquino Hall, Capitol Compound here Wednesday afternoon.

"We are very grateful to the Kapampangans who continue to trust us. We will not let you down. Our administration will continue to bring much needed services to every kabalen most especially in health, agriculture, employment and education," the governor said.

The governor and vice governor, both running unopposed, received 737,481 votes and 650,006 votes, respectively.

Merely two days after the 2016 National and Local elections, victorious candidates in various local positions here were already proclaimed.

First were elected representatives of legislative districts where former councilor Carmelo Lazatin II bested incumbent Congressman Joseller Guiao of the first district with 127,762 votes.

Unopposed Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo of the second district garnered 190,631 votes and was represented by her daughter Luli Arroyo-Bernas at the proclamation.

Third District Representative Aurelio Gonzales, Jr. made a triumphant comeback as his final votes reached 137,786 beating incumbent Representative Oscar Rodriguez who only got 123,935 votes.

Re-electionist Representative Juan Pablo Bondoc received 148,641 votes overwhelming Apalit Mayor Oscar Tetangco Jr. with a 62,998 lead.

The provincial board will soon convene with a mixture of old and fresh faces as the Kapampangans elected incumbent Board Member Cherry Manalo and former councilor Benny Jocson for the first district, unopposed and incumbent Board Members Arthur Salalila, Anthony Joseph Torres, and Salvador Dimson Jr. for the second district, re-elected Board Members Ferdinand Labung and Rosve Henson are joined by lawyer Jun Canlas in the third district, and newly elected board members Nelson Calara and Pol Balingit will represent the fourth district.
