Traffic stays normal: CCTO

THE Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) assured motorists that traffic at the Cebu South Coastal Road (CSCR) will be manageable despite the road works.

Pilipinas Water Resources Inc. (PWRI) will conduct pipe laying repair at the CSCR, particularly near the Department of Public Works and Highways 7 and the University of the Philippines Cebu (UPC) SRP Campus.

Engr. Dim Paul Carreon, PWRI operations manager wrote the SRP management and CCTO to ask for their approval for the works.

Carreon said while the pipe laying project at the SRP was completed, there is a recent leak that needs urgent repair.

The PWRI is the supplier of potable and non-potable water at the SRP.

Lawyer Rey Gealon, executive director of CCTO, said they have have already permitted the PWRI and work had started yesterday and will last tomorrow.

Gealon said drivers, who will use the CSCR, should not worry about any traffic since the wors will only be between 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

“CCTO approved their request provided that no equipment or bunkhouse on the sidewalk or on the road will be installed or erected so that the road will remain unobstructed and that all safety measures will be in place. There will be less traffic impact as the roadwork will be conducted at nigh until dawn,” he said.

PWRI assured the CCTO and SRP management, though, that warning devices and signs will be put up.

CCTO will also deploy enforcers to supervise the traffic.
