Aces have momentum, says Guiao

RAIN or Shine coach Yeng Guiao admits the Alaska Aces has the momentum in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup finals after it won twice in a row, although he said this does not keep his team from hoping for the championship.

The Elasto Painters lost to the Aces, 86-78, setting them back from its third title, the first was in the 2012 Governor’s Cup.

“Alaska now has the momentum, but it doesn’t mean they can run over us and totally take over that momentum,” said Guiao in an interview with Spin.ph. “They are still in a bad place, and we are still in a good place.”

“They still have to beat us twice and we just have to beat them once so it’s really looking at it from the positive perspective,” he said.

Guiao said they are having an adjustment, saying this is the advantage when you’re ahead at 3-0.

He said it doesn’t mean that if the two teams’ scores are low, this will favor Alaska, and that if the scores are high, they are at an advantage.

He said that even if the games garner low scores, they still have the advantage.

“That’s always going to happen in a series–there is high scoring, low scoring, but even if it’s a low scoring ball game, we have the chance to win it,” said Guiao. “We led for twenty-five minutes …and nagka-run lang sila so there’s a really good chance of winning that’s why I believe that I the scores are low, Alaska will win, kung high-scoring Rain or Shine wins.”
