CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Fernandinos have actively showed support in the movement to end HIV and AIDS through a commemoration of the Philippine International AIDS candlelight memorial last Saturday.

A candle lighting ceremony was held in front of the city hall as a sign of remembering those who lost their lives to HIV and AIDS.

Rural Health Physician Dr. Renely Tungol said the commemoration was simultaneously held nationwide from 6 p.m. until 7 p.m.

“We have also enjoined participants from neighboring towns and cities because in Region III, only the City of San Fernando and Olongapo have conducted the said activity,” Tungol said.

Meanwhile, Mayor Edwin Santiago and Vice-Mayor Jimmy Lazatin led the signing of commitment to stop the spread of HIV and AIDS by raising public awareness.

Santiago said “Gusto natin na maging malusog ang taga San Fernando at taga Region 3 kaya nakikiisa tayo sa pagsugpo sa pagkalat ng HIV at AIDS.
