Motorcycle thief gunned down

CAMP OLIVAS, Pampanga -- Policemen shot and killed a suspected motorcycle thief during a shootout in Barangay Maimpis, City of San Fernando recently.

Senior Superintendent Rodolfo Recomono, Jr., Pampanga Police provincial director, identified the slain suspect as Michael Tolentino, aka Balat, a resident of Barangay San Jose, City of San Fernando.

Recomono said that Community Police Action Center 3 of the City of San Fernando police noticed a parked red motorcycle without plate number with a suspicious male person on board alongside the road of the national highway in Barangay Sindalan of said city.

A police team approached the said motorcycle but upon sensing the approaching policemen, the suspect quickly drove off and fled towards the north direction, he said.

Recomono said the suspect fired at the approaching police team and an exchange of firefight ensued, resulted in the slaying of Tolentino.

Recovered from his possession were a caliber .38 revolver with four bullets and two spent shells and the Honda TMX 125, red in color, without plate number.

Police said that the motorcycle of the suspect was allegedly the same motorcycle stolen in front of BDO-Walter Mart in Barangay San Agustin, City of San Fernando, Pampanga. (Ric Sapnu)
