Smart gears for Mindanao improvement

A TELECOMMUNICATIONS company gears for network improvement in Mindanao with Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte as the next president of the Philippines.

Smart Communications Inc. one of the country's leading internet provider, bared on Saturday its plans to build more infrastructures in Mindanao to give better service to clients.

Gary Dujali, Smart Consumer Broadband marketing director, said they recently completed their network improvement upgrade in Cagayan de Oro City.

"We have a three-year plan of network improvement here," Dujali said in an interview during the launch of the Smart Bro Pocket Wifi at the Marco Polo Hotel Davao Saturday, May 21.

The project, which kicked off in 2015, will end sometime in 2018 but will be succeeded with another improvement plan.

"There is some 100 Mbps (megabit per second) network improvement," he said.

Smart recently launched Smart LTE, which according to Dujali, offers a preview of what is going to come.

"LTE is able to give you up to 40 Mbps, in 4G it's up to 12 Mbps maximum attainable rate in terms of speed," he said.

Dujali also the company will also build a double base in Mindanao which means faster internet, more hotspot areas, and wider coverage.

"We have been very aggressive in providing data, improving our services," he added.

Smart network, thus, hopes to double their number of customers with its investments in Mindanao.
