CEBU’s top bowlers Xyrra Cabusas and GJ Buyco will be heading back to Manila after their summer classes to train with the Philippine Youth Team next month.

Cabusas and Buyco, who are both civil engineering students of University of San Carlos (USC), are part of the eight-person roster of the Philippine Youth Bowling Team bound for the 14th World Youth Bowling Championships set on July 24 to Aug. 3 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Cabusas, who will play for the second time in the World Youth Bowling Championship, said that the Philippine Youth Bowling Team will have team building sessions in Manila on June 3 to 4.

The two ace players of Team Prima-Cebu will have a tight schedule as they will train with the Philippine Youth Team for two weeks and get back to Cebu before the start of the first semester.

“Our summer classes will end on May 27. We will attend on the team building and train there for two weeks and we go back to Cebu again because the class starts on June 13,” said Cabusas, who turned 21 last Saturday.

Cabusas also went to Manila last April to train with the national youth team under coaches Jojo Canare and Biboy Rivera.

During the stint, she won third runner-up in the youth mixed masters division of the 27th BTAM Boysen Easter Open in Makati.

Buyco and Cabusas earned the slot to represent the country in the World Youth Championships after topping their divisions in the Philippine Bowling Congress (PBC) Youth Eliminations in November last year. The top four finishers in the boys’ and girls divisions’ in the qualifier clinched the slot to Lincoln, Nebraska.
