Davao downtown drainage still being addressed

THE Davao City Drainage Management Unit (DMU) is now concentrating their projects in the downtown area as the rains have already started.

DMU Assistant Chairperson Engineer Alex Abi said during the I-Speak media forum last Thursday that there are currently six projects they are working on and they are in the process of preparing all the technical requirements needed for these.

One of these projects is in La Verna near the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (Caap) area in Davao City, Abi said.

In 2015, they had allocated budget for certain drainage rehabilitation in the projects and another budget were also coming for the continuous project.

Abi bared that last year, their office had allocated a total of P50 Million for the drainage rehabilitation in Jacinto extension, P50 Million in Ponciano, P30 Million for the Quirino-Camus-Legaspi drainage line, P10 Million in Ecoland, P50 Million for Diversion road-La Verna drainage project, and P20 Million in Agdao.

Another P50 Million will also be allocated for the rehabilitation of the Diversion road-La Verna drainage this year and there is also another budget for the Agdao drainage, Abi said.

To avoid repetition of projects, the DMU also encourage Barangay officials to participate during the planning of the project so that the budget to be allocated for it will not be put to waste, DMU Chief Yusop Jimlani said during the same media forum.
