A PREGNANT woman died after she was struck by lightning at Purok Minoro in Barangay Sta. Cruz, Murcia, Negros Occidental, Sunday.
Police identified the fatality as Razel Manlangit, 23, who was seven months pregnant.
The incident was reported to the police by Manlangit’s live-in- partner John Mark Bañas the following day, police records showed.
Last Thursday, two farm workers were also killed while five others were injured after they were hit by a lightning at Hacienda Porter, Barangay Andres Bonifacio in Cadiz City.
The fatalities were identified as Juvie Jumawan, 27, and Willie Barredo, 38; and the injured as Mark Sopueska, 17, Cristobal Magbanua, 31, Johnrel Lobrico, 18, and his cousins Jeffrey, 23, and Silverio, 43, all of Hacienda Elvira in the said village.
In Himamaylan City, a man died after his motorcycle was hit by a pick-up truck at Sitio Ubay, Barangay Caradioan Monday.
Police identified the fatality as Policarpio Martinez, 24, of Hacienda Verde in Barangay 3.
The brakes of the truck driven by John Baylis, 36, failed, and hit a pick-up truck driven by Welmer Noquiara, 24, causing the latter to hit Martinez’s motorcycle.
Senior Police Officer 2 Ramil Dellomes, city traffic investigator, said the two truck drivers were released from detention Monday afternoon after an initial settlement was agreed between them and the Martinez family.
