THE Omega Pro Sports International launched its upcoming boxing events yesterday—The Uptown Rumble on June 11 and Who’s Next? Boxing Series on July 10—which will feature the stable’s top prospects.

The Uptown Rumble will pit 26-year-old Jason Canoy against Margarito Moya of RWS Stable in a 10-round bantamweight bout at the One Mango in Cebu City.

Canoy (24-6-2, 18KO) will look to bounce back after a loss to Japanese Hinata Maruta last year in Osaka, Japan.

“On this coming fight I will show in the ring the improvement of my game. I have learned from the previous bouts,” Canoy said in Cebuano during the press conference yesterday at the Manggahan Bar.

The Who’s Next? Boxing Series 2, meanwhile, will feature Jhack Tepora and Kenny Demecillo. However, the opponents of Tepora and Demecillo are still under negotiation.

The 21-year-old Tepora (17-0-0- 12KO), who is the current WBO Asia Pacific Youth Champion, said he’s excited for the coming fight and will give his best to protect his unbeaten record.

Demecillo (10-3-2- 7KO) will co-headline the event, which is set at the Robinsons Galleria Cebu.

Chad Cañares, the The VP for Promotions of Omega Pro Sports International, said they’re currently in negotiation for a foreign opponent for Tepora, and also for local fighters for the Who’s Next? Boxing Series 2. The event will feature nine bouts.

“The coming two events are the first few steps in our great journey,” said Pio Paulo Castillo, the president of Omega Pro Sports International.

“Our aim is to promote our fighters and give them a venue to showcase their talent. Right now we have more than 20 fighters. For this yearm, we have four boxing events lined-up,” said Cañares.

Meanwhile, all bouts for the Uptown Rumble are all set.
