Traffic adjustments for ‘Gabii’

THE Cebu City Transportation Office (CCTO) advised the public to brace for heavy traffic in downtown area on Friday for the celebration of Gabii sa Kabilin.

CCTO Operations Division Head Jonathan Tumulak asked the public to avoid downtown area from 6 p.m. to 12 midnight.

Vehicular traffic will be rerouted temporarily for the road closure on the affected streets at E. Aboitiz, Mabini, Ballesteros, P. Burgos, Colon, and Osmeña Blvd.

Colon area

All vehicles including Public Utility Jeepneys (PUJs) traveling along Colon and coming from Pelaez shall turn right or turn left to D. Jakosalem St.

Vehicles bound for SM are advised to turn left to D. Jakosalem St., right turn to Imus Rd., and then to their point of destination.

Colon-bound vehicles from Sikatuna shall turn right to Zamora, to Sanciangko or right turn to D. Jakosalem St.

Vehicles traversing Isagani St. shall turn left to Mabini St., then to their point of destination.

PUJs bound for North Reclamation Area traveling along Junquera St., while passing P. del Rosario shall go straight to Imus, right turn to Sikatuna St. then left turn to T. Padilla.

Aside from the activity on Friday, there will be a fun-run from 4 a.m to 10 a.m on Sunday at the South Road Properties, said Tumulak.

“A part of SRP, near SM Seaside and nead the sea will be closed”, he said.

Closure

The road closure will start from Plaza Independencia to corner El Pardo.

Asked about Balik Eskwela, Tumulak said pulled out personnel posted near schools will be reinstated in their assigned stations when classes open.

Tumulak said the public should brace for another heavy traffic flow by the end of the month for the Flores de Mayo celebration and the opening of classes next month.
