Seminar on improving research slated May 26

THE National Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) Philippines is holding a two-day seminar-workshop on improving research at the Nature’s Village Resort in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, starting Thursday, May 26.

Held in cooperation with the Department of Science and Technology-Negros Island Region (DOST-NIR), the activity is dubbed, “Training-Workshop on Writing and Presenting Proposals towards Building Science Culture in the Region.”

Participants include representatives of various institutions particularly schools currently engaged in research and development and journal publication.

DOST-NIR, in a press release Wednesday, said the seminar-workshop is under the program of NAST Philippines entitled “Evaluation and Improvement of the Research Publication and Productivity of National R&D Systems.”

It is aimed toward research upgrading, research performance evaluation, among others. Through this project, local researchers were encouraged to publish their studies internationally, increase the publication rate, and consequently, the Global Competitive Index of the Philippines, the press release said.

“The program also aims to educate new researchers on writing scientific papers, creating research proposals, and understanding research ethics and research management, using scientific mentoring as means for sustainable research, implementing research project and producing research outputs,” it added.
