Woman, 70, nabbed in drug bust

A SEPTUAGENARIAN was arrested in a drug bust conducted by operatives of City Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (CAIDSOTG) at Goldenfield Commercial Complex in Barangay Singcang-Airport, Bacolod City, Wednesday evening.

Police identified the suspect as 70-year-old Pilar Selorio, alias “Nanay,” of Barangay Singcang-Airport.

Chief Inspector Jerick Filosofo, chief of CAIDSOTG, said Selorio was arrested after she sold a sachet of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) to a police poseur-buyer.

Police recovered from Selorio’s possession four elongated and one big plastic sachets of shabu, a cellular phone, and P800 cash.

Filosofo said Selorio attempted to flee when she noticed that she was dealing with a policeman.

The recovered drugs weighed 4.3 grams with an estimated market value of P25,000.

Filosofo said that Selorio probably engaged in illegal drug trade in lieu of her son, who is in jail for illegal drug charges.

In another development, about P15,000 worth of shabu was also seized in a drug bust conducted by operatives of Police Station 2 at Purok Kagaykay, Barangay 2, Bacolod City, around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Rey Jimena, 28, was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer for P200.

Police recovered from Jimena’s possession 12 elongated, and one big plastic sachets of shabu, and the P200 marked money.

Senior Inspector Edison Garcia, chief of Police Station 2, said Jimena, who is included in their drug watchlist, was under surveillance for almost a month before his arrest.

The suspect is facing charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

4 arrested

Meanwhile, four persons were arrested for selling and possessing illegal drugs in separate operations in Negros Occidental Wednesday.

In Cadiz City, three persons were apprehended in a drug bust at Hacienda Fara-on in Barangay Cabahug around 7 p.m.

Police identified the subject as Romel Canonigo, 38, and his companions Jose Talisio, 25, and Rexel Talisio, 19, both residents of Sagay City.

Operatives seized from Canonigo’s house seven sachets of shabu worth P8,000, drug paraphernalia, cellphone, P300 marked money, and cash worth P1,270.

Superintendent Edel Jose Manzano, city police chief, said Canonigo is under the station’s drug watchlist, and suspects are facing drug charges.

In Murcia town, police arrested Erwin Canieso, 52, of Barangay 26, Bacolod City, in a checkpoint operation in Barangay Blumentritt after he yielded two sachets of suspected shabu. (With GYM)
