SEVEN persons, including a top drug personality, were arrested in separate police drug busts in Negros Occidental Thursday.
In Cauayan town, operatives arrested the station’s number six drug personality, Jolito Peñalosa, 43, of Purok 2, Barangay Tuyom at about 9 p.m.
Chief Inspector Arnold Mesias Jr., chief of Cauayan Municipal Police Station, said Peñalosa was arrested after he sold a sachet of shabu to police, a poseur-buyer for P100.
Police recovered from Peñalosa’s possession one small and four heat-sealed sachets of shabu.
Operatives of Kabankalan City Police Station also arrested Elmerex Piano, 28, of Barangay 4 at about 5 p.m. after he sold a sachet of shabu to a police poseur-buyer for P100.
Also arrested were Piano’s companions John Paul Gantalao, 21, of Mabinay, Negros Oriental; Reymart Llenos, 22, of Binalbagan; and Ryan Buyco, 28, of Kabankalan City.
The suspects were found possessing one big, and two small plastic sachets of shabu.
Superintendent Rhea Santos, chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said Piano was under surveillance for almost a month before his arrest.
In Murcia town, Ronilon Olayra, 28, was arrested by operatives at Barangay Minoyan at about 10 p.m.
Police recovered from Olayra’s possession one small and two elongated sachets of shabu.
In Bacolod City, operatives of Police Station 8 arrested Ramon Sancho, 40, of Barangay Singcang-Airport.
Police recovered from Sancho’s possession one small and one big plastic sachets of shabu, among others.
In another development, a man with arrest warrant for illegal drugs was collared by personnel of Ilog Municipal Police Station at Barangay 1 Thursday evening.
Arrested was Joe Leo Medel, 35, of Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City.
Chief Inspector Nerito Lobrido, chief of Ilog Municipal Police Station, said Medel has an arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 issued by Judge Rodney Magbanua of Regional Trial Court Branch 61.
Police recovered from Medel’s possession two medium and six elongated sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia, .357 caliber containing five live ammunition, and P44,700 cash.(MAP)
