Basilan village officer falls in drug bust

A VILLAGE officer in Basilan City, Basilan province was arrested by police authorities in a drug bust on Monday, May 30.

The police identified the suspect as Willie Jamaluddin, 40, a watchman (tanod) in the village of Port Area, Isabela City.

The police said the suspect was arrested in a drug bust around 10 p.m. Monday in the village of Port Area.

The arresting team confiscated methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as "shabu," with an estimated P40,000 market value, the police said.

The suspect was detained while appropriate charges are set to be filed against him, the police added. (Bong Garcia)
