MEGAWORLD Corporation announced the construction of two more buildings to expand its office portfolio at the Davao Park District in Lanang, where it is now constructing the Davao Finance Center, including the six-storey European-inspired Emperador House.
“Aside from the 10-storey Davao Finance Center which offers 20,000 square meters of office spaces, Megaworld will also build another two office towers – the ‘One Republic Plaza’ and the “Emperador House’ – which will both offer another 30,000 square meters of office spaces in Davao Park District,” said Megaworld Senior Vice President Jericho P. Go in a press conference at Marco Polo Hotel Tuesday noon, May 31. One Republic Plaza will have ten storeys.
“The Emperador House will be an iconic landmark of Davao Park District along the township’s main avenue,” Go said.
Aside from office towers and residential condominiums along One Lakeshore Drive, the Davao Park District will also host a hospital and a school although this is still in the drawing board.
“At present, three towers of the residential condominium cluster, One Lakeshore Drive, are almost sold out. Another two towers are scheduled for launch by Megaworld’s subsidiary brand, Suntrust Properties Inc., within the year,” Go added.
While preferring to be non-committal on other projects inside the 11-hectare property, Go said, that the fact that they are building two more structures means a “positive” feedback by the market. The additional buildings will cost between P3-billion to P4-billion.
“We hope to bring first-time, new locators to Davao City,” Go said.
“That’s the same thing that we are doing to other cities like Iloilo and Lapulapu City in Cebu and soon in Bacolod, Pampanga, Cavite, and Laguna.”
Megaworld foresees being able to generate around 100,000 direct and indirect jobs in Davao City township alone by 2020.
