POLICE confirmed Wednesday, June 1, that the man whose body was found wrapped in a trash bag and tied with a packaging tape in San Fernando town, was identified as Jimmy Vosotros.

Vosotros, 48, single and a homosexual, was found along the national highway in Barangay Balud in San Fernando, a town in southern Cebu, around 4 a.m. Monday, May 30. He was hogtied and a rope was tied on his neck. His body was wrapped in a garbage bag tightly sealed with a packaging tape like that of a mummy. On him was a message written on bond paper: "Tulisan ko (I'm a robber), DU30."

Chief Inspector Richard Gadingan, San Fernando police station chief, said Vosotros is a resident of Basak, Lapu-Lapu. The victim's body was brought to Tupaz Funeral Home in Carcar City.

His parents went to Tupaz around 2 p.m. Wednesday, Gadingan added.

Personnel from the funeral parlor earlier said that the body was not yet in the advanced stage of decomposition. The victim was possibly killed last Sunday afternoon or late at night (May 29).

The police also doubt that Vosotros was a robber.

The victim's family also said that Vosotros was a good man and he was not a robber.

"Manghinaot ko sa ginoo masulbad ni ang pagpatay sa akong uyoan! Dili intawon ni tulisan akong uyoan oy! Gabisyo intawon ni sya pero dili ni salbahis pagkataw!" said Vosotros's niece, Nancy, in a comment on a Facebook post shared by Janna Fernan.

Investigation on the killing of Vosotros is ongoing as of Wednesday, June 1. (With Kevin Lagunda of Sun.Star Cebu/Sunnex)
